Biography: Lezle Williams
was raised in the Midwest, but always felt the westward pull.
After travelling Lezle then traveled to Alberta, Canada, where she received her graduate degree in Non-toxic Printmaking and mentored under the internationally known printmaker Keith Howard. During this time she rediscovered relief printmaking - specifically woodcuts and wood engravings, which she has done nearly exclusively for the last five years. Lezle, her family, and pets now live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the owner of Laughing Crow Art Studio, which works with environmental organizations, books, and journals. Magazines in which her work can be found include; Wild Earth, the Fund for Animals Magazine, the Wild Ones, and Petroglyph magazine, She is owner of the Works on Paper gallery and also the founder of the New Mexico Printmakers Society. Artist's Statement: I use a centuries-old technique to portray everyday, recognizable objects, (often combined with strong lighting and shadows) with the intent of letting the viewer see the ordinary In an extraordinary way.
